Hello, fine fellows and ladies. We have news for-uh-you!
It's been a damn fine past couple months, with the release of Without Wax and it's subsequent tour. The Southwest was a grand place to be during the beginning of fall and the winds carried us through safely (meaning my junker of a vehicle didn't break down in the desert. Whew.) We have some upcoming dates and news that may just excite you into getting up off that computer and heading into the out of doors.
This coming Friday, November 16th, John will be performing at the Society in OKC for the "REFRESH" concert/art show series with fellow okies Jerrod Beck and Isabel, with the presentation of Dakota Lewallen's photography. Music starts at 7 and runs until 11, come by and nab a seat before it's full. REFRESH tends to be a very attentive, kind audience that lends their ears to the performers, a rare occurrance that allows for very intimate performances. John will be performing with Jordan Herrera singing harmony.
This Sunday, John Calvin will be going on a little Thanksgiving tour in the true south US with his wild band of thieves alongside Rosco Bandana for a few dates. Here they are! Don't miss us (and definitely check out Rosco Bandana, those folks are amazing. Swampy, Gypsy Americana at it's finest.)
11/18 Little Rock, AR - TBA 11/19 Memphis, TN - Kudzu's 11/20 Hattiesburg MS - Downtown Grocery/Grill 11/21 Ocean Springs, MS - Mezo's (w/ Rosco Bandana) 11/22 Shreveport, LA - Bear's 11/23 Norman, OK - Othellos

Just this past week, John recorded a brand new and original Christmas song for the Chevy Music Showcase Christmas compilation CD, alongside other local artists including David Leach, Kyle Reid, Brine Webb, Ali Harter, Travis Linville, Denver Duncan, and many others! Keep an ear open and your eyes peeled in the coming weeks for the compilation to hit the streets. (Merry early Christmas/Holiday-time!)
Finally, John Calvin and Jordan Herrera (Young Readers) have gone into the studio with Kyle Reid and Steve Boaz, along with Alberto Roubert of the band Defining Times to record a 7'' split vinyl. Plans to create this record have been in the works for quite awhile now and will feature two songs from each artist, full band and high power. (hint: Cut The Rope is going to be on there, guaranteed.)
I would like to shout out to the great Ali Harter for her success with her Kickstarter campaign and ultimately, the start of her new record. I send all my best to you, Ali.
Until next time, folks. Can't wait to see you next.
Love,
John and family
